- I …terkomsten kallas Harry Bosch, kriminalinspektör vid Los Angeles-polisen till en mordplats i sluttningen ovanför Hollywood Bowl. Den döde B-filmsproducenten Tony Aliso hittas i bakluckan på en Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Det hela ser ut som en maffiauppgörelse.
Men när Bosch börjar undersöka mordet visar det sig att det inte bara är den undre världen som visar intresse för Alisos affärer, utan också FBI och polisen i Las Vegas, och de gillar inte att Bosch klampar in på deras område. Till råga på allt kommer han också ihop sig med Los Angeles-polisens internutredare. Men Bosch ger sig inte, utan fortsätter med hjälp av en kvinnlig före detta kollega som hamnat på fel sida lagen att söka svaret på mordgåtan.
Michael Connelly, som i många år arbetat som kriminalreporter på Los Angeles Times, författar idag på heltid. Han räknas numera till de stora amerikanska deckarförfattarna och även i Sverige får han stadigt allt större läsarskaror. Tidigare böcker i serien om Harry Bosch: Svart eko (1999), Svart is och Dockmakaren (2000) och Den siste prärievargen (2001).
